Florida Storytelling Festival 2026 – Mount Dora, Florida
Held from January 22–25, 2026, at the historic Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora, Florida, the 42nd Annual Florida Storytelling Festival brought together storytellers and audiences from across the country to celebrate the timeless art of oral storytelling.
The festival featured captivating performances, interactive workshops, story swaps, and community gatherings that highlighted the power of stories to entertain, educate, and inspire. This year’s distinguished featured tellers included Megan Wells, Michael Reno Harrell, George Otieno (Fishmonger Stories), Mij Byram, and Janel Woodland, each sharing unique voices and traditions that connected people across cultures and generations.
The Florida Storytelling Festival continues to serve as a vibrant platform for preserving storytelling traditions while fostering creativity, community, and meaningful human connection through the spoken word.

8th Annual Africa Day Celebration – Houston, Texas
The African diaspora community in Houston came together to celebrate the 8th Annual Africa Day, a vibrant event that showcased the richness and diversity of African culture. The celebration featured traditional food, music, dance performances, storytelling, and inspiring speeches, creating an atmosphere of unity and cultural pride.
The event attracted a distinguished audience, including political leaders, ambassadors, law enforcement officials, fire department representatives, business leaders, and community members from across the region. This year’s celebration was held in honor of the late Congressman Sylvester Turner, one of the visionary founders of Houston Africa Day, recognizing his lasting contributions to promoting African heritage and strengthening community ties.
